An average car tyre including rim weighs approximately 20 kg. If lifted improperly, the spinal disc can be loaded with a weight of up to 400 kg. There is also a risk of long-term damage to vertebrae and nerve pathways. In the worst case scenario, jerky movements during lifting can even threaten a spinal disc incident.
In order to facilitate the tedious, time-consuming and health-endangering process of exchanging tyres, Hovmand has found a product range which is adapted to the specific requirements. From the shelf removal to the transport and assembly of tyres and back into re-storage. The two W-LIFT and W-MOUNT lifters hereby coordinate hand in hand and complement each other perfectly. Employees can exchange and store car tyres without risk of physical injury. The slim design makes it easy to store the lifting trolleys anywhere without them ever being in the way.
Hovmand W-Lift is pushed next to the rack. The hoist is raised to the appropriate rack height and the complete set of wheels or tyres is moved to the frame of the mobile lift together with a transport roller (not included in scope of delivery). This is then lowered and the frame is tilted by 90 degrees. The wheels are now positioned securely on the transport roller and can be conveniently rolled into the workshop, while the mobile lifter can be utilised to store or retrieve more wheels and tyres. Raising and lowering is executed electrically. Tipping is implemented by means of leverage power so as to avoid stressful and potentially dangerous working positions.
The complete wheel set including a transport roller (not included in scope of delivery) is moved and lifted onto the forks of the lifter. The wheels are then electrically adjusted to the correct working height and removed and assembled from the hoist lift without additional lifting.
“In the past, I often had to go to the physiotherapist during the tyre change season because it was very stressful for my back. With the Hovmand wheel trolley lifter, my staff and I can now handle the tyres in a low-impact way, thereby improving our health.”
